Sherry Immediato, President & Managing Director
Sherry Immediato is President and Managing Director of founding SoL, The Society for Organizational Learning. She was a founding member of SoL in 1997 and served as co-chair of the Council of Trustees with Peter Senge, prior to assuming the role of Managing Director in 2001.
She is also Treasurer (and former Chair) of the Board of the Northeast Foundation for Children. (www.responsiveclassroom.org) She was a member of the Consortium on Productivity in the Schools, sponsored by Columbia University Teachers College and co-author of Using what we have to get the schools we need: A productivity focus for American education. She is the co-author of Creating Integrated Care and Healthier Communities, a computer simulation and learning experience for health care leaders sponsored by the New England Healthcare Assembly, Innovation Associates and the American Hospital Association. She has been the lead faculty member of the national Public Health Education Leadership Institute since its inception in 1998. She has made presentations regularly at the International System Dynamics Society, Systems Thinking in Action, the Power of Systems Thinking, the Organization Development Network, and the Quality of Work Life conferences and is a contributor to the Fifth Discipline Fieldbook: The Dance of Change.
Prior to joining the SoL staff, she founded Heaven & Earth Incorporated in 1996. Her clients have included public sector and non-profit enterprises in health care, education, and other areas of community service, in addition to divisions of Fortune 500 corporations. Ms. Immediato was a Principal with Innovation Associates from 1983-1996. She has also worked in venture capital and economic development in both industry and government. She served for four years on the organization behavior faculty of the Radcliffe College Management Program.
She holds graduate degrees in Business Administration and Public Policy/Government from Harvard University. She is dedicated to building learning communities that increase our collective intelligence and wisdom to realize our highest aspirations. Jeff Clanon, Director, Partnership Development
Jeff Clanon is a founding consultant member and the Director of Partnership Development for SoL, The Society for Organizational Learning. SoL is a non-profit; member governed organization chaired by Peter Senge, dedicated to building knowledge about fundamental institutional change through integrating research, capacity building, and the practical application of organizational learning theory and methods. SoL evolved from the Center for Organizational Learning at MIT where Jeff was the Executive Director for five years.
Working with the members of SoL which include Fortune 500 companies such as Hewlett Packard, Ford, AT&T, Intel, Federal Express, Harley Davidson, as well as researchers and consultants, Jeff is focused on discovering, teaching, and implementing theory and practice in the area of organizational learning. He is particularly interested in leadership as systemic phenomena and its implications for senior managers as they create and sustain work environments, which facilitate learning, tap intrinsic motivation and generate effective, collaborative action.
In addition to his work with corporate members of SoL, over the past three years Jeff has focused on teaching, coaching and consulting with leaders and management teams in academic institutions and Federal Government agencies including the US Department of Education, NASA, and the National Security Agency. He also works with health care organizations and small businesses that are interested in developing and applying the core learning competencies required for achieving sustained high performance.
Jeff has more than 25 years' experience in the area of individual and organizational learning, having held positions as a clinical psychologist, educator, organization development consultant and business manager. Prior to SoL and MIT, Jeff helped establish Digital Equipment Corporation's pioneering effort in the commercial application of artificial intelligence technology and had worldwide management responsibility for Digital's knowledge engineering training programs. He also served as Director of a Community Mental Health Center in Swampscott, Massachusetts, and as a Peace Corps volunteer in Western Samoa.
Jeff has published a number of articles in the area of organizational change, knowledge engineering education and the intersection of organizational learning and technology. His article “Organizational Transformation form the Inside Out: Reinventing the MIT Center for Organizational Learning,” won an award as outstanding submission to the Learning Organization International Journal for 1999. A more recent article published in the Systems Thinker in 2004 entitled "The Dark Side of Success: Dealing with the Organizational and Emotional Complexities of Growth" provides insights into the complexities of organizational growth and the practical application of systems thinking methodologies. He received a BA from Dickinson College, an MS from the University of Illinois and he has also completed postgraduate programs at Harvard Medical School, Laboratory of Community Psychiatry and at MIT. Jeff currently lives with his wife and two children in Concord, Massachusetts.

Frank Schneider, Partnership Development Manager
Frank Schneider is responsible for Partnership Development at SoL. Working with SoL's organizational members, including AT&T, IFC, Intel, Shell, and Unilever, Frank identifies business challenges and develops collaborative change projects to address them. These change projects often involve other organizations, researchers, and consultants committed to fundamental organizational change and advancing the state-of-art in building learning organizations.
Prior to joining SoL in 2001, Frank was a credit analyst for business loans at Deutsche Bank AG in Germany. In this role he worked with managers of German and French business clients and consulted with several start-up clients assisting them to expand nationwide. Subsequently, he became a Human Resource Manager in one of Germany's largest research centers taking responsibility for 900 employees of various scientific-technical and commercial professions in 12 of the center's research departments.
Frank received his undergraduate degree from universities in Germany and France and completed internships in several multinational companies in Luxembourg, France, and Canada. As a member of AIESEC he organized numerous workshops on developing communication skills and understanding management and leadership in turbulent times. Frank received his MBA from Boston College, where he was awarded with the Edgar F. Huse Memorial Award for his outstanding contribution to the field of organization studies.
Frank has published articles in The Systems Thinker and Reflections: The SoL Journal, and is a member of the Honors Society Beta Gamma Sigma.

Sheila McGarey, Coordinator, SoL Council & Organizational, Consultant
and Research Membership
SoL Governing Council and Coordinator for SoL Membership, in addition to being responsible for administration of SoL's US Government contracts. She has been with SoL for 5 years, having worked as an Executive Assistant and Administrative Coordinator at the former Bank of Boston for 10 years prior to joining SoL.
Sheila has a Bachelor's degree in Education as well as a Certificate in Office Administration. She spent a number of years facilitating environmental, experiential and adventure learning experiences for young people. Following that she worked in New York City and Salem, MA for D.M.A., Inc., an international training company working at the leading edge of human creativity and personal effectiveness.

Tatiana Lewis, Projects & Marketing Assistant
Tatiana joined SoL as Projects & Marketing Assistant in June of 2006. She works with Jeff Clanon and Frank Schneider in support of SoL’s consulting and project work. She is also involved in planning and logistics for SoL meetings.
Tatiana graduated from Bay State College in Boston, MA with a degree in Entertainment Management. While enrolled at Bay State, Tatiana was also the President of the Entertainment Association and helped plan and organize many events and meetings for students. Tatiana also interned at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, working in Disney’s entertainment and retail departments.

Peter Vitello, Network Administrator
Peter is SoL's part-time Network Administrator. He is responsible for ensuring that day-to-day office network operations are efficient, reliable and secure, and that SoL staff members are supported in their use of network and personal computers. He is responsible for administering current network components in a multi-platform environment including Windows, Mac OS X and Suse Linux server-based solutions as well as support and management of desktop and laptop computers, printers, software installation, and providing technical support for users of all experience levels (beginner to advanced).

Diane Nakashian, Executive Assistant to Peter Senge
Diane is an Executive Assistant at SoL supporting Peter Senge and Sherry Immediato. In this position she manages Peter's calendar and works with Anne Starr to coordinate Peter's public speaking engagements and travel arrangements. Diane previously worked for Dialogos and Innovation Associates/AD Little in a similar position and was the Office Manager for the IBM PC User Group of the Boston Computer Society.
