Description

Many coaching models recognize the concept of systems as important to understanding the environment within which leaders and managers must perform.  In this 3-day workshop you will be introduced to powerful tools that help expand your clients’ awareness and ability to take effective action and achieve their goals. We take a broad view of systems, from respecting the complex adaptive systems we as individuals are, to recognizing increasing levels of complexity at play in the interpersonal, group and organizational levels.

Participants will leave this session having practice in:

  • The Butterfly Model of Complex Human Systems
  • Coaching in the External System – systems thinking, system archetypes, emergent learning
  • Coaching in the Internal System – intentions, internal narrative, mental models, underlying stories
  • How the external and internal systems impact our interactions with clients and self as a system

Capacity development will occur at five levels:  concepts, tools, skills, stance and being.

The foundation for this approach is the coaching model developed by the SoL consultants and deployed in numerous business, non-profit and government settings over the past several years.  The workshop engages head, heart and hand with brief presentations, paired coaching practice with peer observation, reflection time and small group learning circles with follow-up case stud practice by phone.

As a graduate of this workshop, you will not only be eligible for 29 CCEUs through the International Coach Federation (ICF), but you will be part of a growing network of coaches trained to bring a systems perspective to their work with clients.  Graduates are automatically invited to apply for membership in the Global SoL Coaches Community of Practice, a community of the Society for Organizational Learning.

Who Should Attend?

This course is intended for experienced coaches and leaders who coach who want to take their learning and coaching to a deeper level. Participants enthusiastically report on the immediate applicability and powerful results they see in their coaching - based on greater awareness of the systems context and increased confidence in their capacity.
