As the world is losing its villages and its sense of connectedness among neighbors, it is losing some of its capacity to raise its children through a village culture of shared values, beliefs, and behaviors. At the same time more schools are being built throughout the world. These schools, however, are primarily designed to teach specific knowledge and skills. Lars Wang graduated as Master of Technology (1983) and has also completed studies in management and consulting. He is partner in the strategy consulting group insam as in Drammen, Norway (www.insam.no). He has experience from a wide range of fields, having worked as management consultant, strategy advisor, process consultant and project manager. He has worked for ministries, regional- and local authorities, as well as companies often within a private-public partnerships context. The projects are often characterized by their crossover approaches involving several stakeholders. Lars has also worked within the field of innovation and sought to extend the concept of innovation from a mere technical approach to also include social, environmental and organizational perspectives. Community development and the sustainable development have been of major concern in several of his projects. Lars does also possess international experience, e.g. strategic adviser in a comprehensive program for environmental protection and local sustainable development in Serbian municipalities (2003-07).
