The Art of Framing Powerful Questions: Conversational Leadership and the World Café

The program is being finalized as those offered concurrent session opportunities confirm. In addition, an impressive group of keynote speakers includes Grameen Bank founder Muhammad Yunus, anthropologist Mary Catherine Bateson, author and consultant Adam Kahane and Peter Senge. Each speaker will be joined by a panel of diverse colleagues including Nicanor Perlas, an inspiring hands-on leader in the field of cross-sector collaboration from the Philippines; Judith Flick, a social development leader and SoL/MIT ELIAS fellow; and Suhair Alqurashi, Dean of the first private women college in Saudi Arabia. Each session will engage in a public dialogue into which we are all invited.

Diverse, inspiring, provocative and practical concurrent sessions offer opportunities for participants to explore specific topics in more depth, experience new tools in the field, and learn from the experiences of colleagues. Some plenary guest will take these opportunities for more in depth exploration of their work that they are currently involved.

Each day will also include our own brand of open space labeled the learning “souq”, The Design Team was fortunate to explore a souq on our visit to Oman in December. We used our learnings from that experience to create what will be a valuable and memorable meeting format modeled on the souq’s traditions and routines.

SoL gatherings usually stand out for participants because they have a remarkable number of great conversations, they make connections that help them improve their performance, they find unexpected partners for collaboration to venture into innovative projects, and they leave the event personally enriched. The Global Forum initiatives over the years are one of the best examples of the realization of the possibility of SoL.
