Greg Merten: Leadership as a commitment to personal development On November 25-26, 2002 the Leadership Development Academy of the Graduate School, USDA, hosted their annual Dimensions of Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. The keynote for this event was Greg Merton, Vice President and General Manager at Hewlett Packard where he led worldwide operations for Inkjet supplies. Greg is currently assisting the company to effectively integrate Hewlett Packard with Compaq. In that effort he is helping the company develop the leadership culture for the future while preserving the best of the past. Greg shared his own leadership journey over the last 20 years as he was forced to make changes in his style and willingness to learn in order to better serve the needs of the Inkjet division. During his tenure the division went from a research group of 75 to 10,000 employees world-wide. Greg's presentation blended the needs of the leader to grow and learn with the needs of the organization and its culture. His presentation has been heard by audiences all over the world and he has received tremendous support and gratitude for his honesty and willingness to share.
