Welcome to the SoL Global Coaching Community

PURPOSE

The purpose of the SoL Global Coaching Community (SoL GCC) is:

To create a Community of Practice
In a way that engages members fully around real work
So that the quality and reputation of coaching among SoL GCC members improves through time, and results and effectiveness increase for all key stakeholders.

HISTORY

The SoL GCC is SoL's latest recognized community and the first community based on interest, not on location. We began some years ago as a community of practice within the consultant and research members of SoL. In Spring 2011, the group changed it's organization to widen our scope to a global/international scale. We wanted to go beyond consultant and research members of SoL to include coaches from other SoL national entities and to bring new faces into SoL.

MEMBERS

The SoL GCC admits members by application. We seek members who are active coaches with at least three years experience as an executive coach (or equivalent), and who want to be active in a coaching community which reflects SoL's Purposes and Principles. Membership dues during this organizing period for the SoL GCC are being underwritten by the founding members. Members of the SoL GCC enjoy the benefits of membership in a recognized SoL Community.

PARTICIPATION

The SoL GCC has historically held conventional meetings focused on increasing our capacity as coaches and connecting within the community. As we expand our scope of membership, we are shifting towards virtual connections. We are presently conducting a series of small group calls in which we use the Structured Case Review Process to build our capacity as coaches and to get to know each other. We are interested in supporting collaboration on for larger corporate coaching opportunities. A group of us offers a course Coaching from a Systems Perspective which is accredited by the ICF for Continuing Coach Education Units.

The SoL Global Coaching Community is a participatory and contributory body, which exists entirely due to the active involvement of its members. What we have is what we have created: we welcome and expect each member to participate in this creation. Participants are willing to commit time and energy to the SoL GCC, participating not only in the events, but on design teams and other committees that further advance our practice and the SoL Coaching model.
